organizational behavior strategic planning organizational effectiveness succession planning milestones (project management) leadershipBeSpatial Ontario is seeking to create a comprehensive succession plan for its Executive Director. She has been in this role for over 30 years, and is the backbone of the organization.
The goal of this project is to ensure a smooth transition of leadership by outlining how volunteer board members can assume some of the Executive Director's responsibilities, and what services we would need to pay for. This plan is crucial for maintaining organizational stability and continuity. The project will involve identifying key responsibilities of the Executive Director, assessing the skills and capabilities of current board members, and developing a step-by-step transition plan. The learners will apply their knowledge of organizational behavior, leadership, and strategic planning to create a robust succession plan that can be implemented seamlessly.
Key tasks include:
- Conducting a thorough analysis of the Executive Director's current responsibilities.
- Evaluating the skills and readiness of board members to take on these responsibilities.
- Developing a detailed transition timeline and action plan.
- Creating documentation and training materials to support the transition.
The final deliverables for this project will include:
- A detailed succession plan document outlining the transition process.
- A skills assessment report for current board members.
- A transition timeline with key milestones and actions.
- Training materials and documentation to support board members in their new roles.
These deliverables will ensure that BeSpatial Ontario has a clear and actionable plan for leadership transition, minimizing disruption and maintaining organizational effectiveness.
We have a succession planning committee that includes our current Executive Director, President, Past-President, Vice President and Web Directors. We have been meeting for several months but have made little progress.
We will meet regularly with the students to review the progress and provide guidance. We will also assign a single point of contact for anything that it required.
